Proposed Constitutional Amendment

We the people...
A friend sent me this in an email and I think it's vital to share with you.

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens have no idea that members of Congress take advantage of arcane loopholes that exempt them from laws to which all ordinary citizens are subject.

But that may change with the following proposal being floated around the 'Net.

Versions of this proposal cite special privileges for members of Congress. These include retirement from Congress after one term with full pay, exemption from paying into Social Security and many other laws including exemption for prosecution for accusations of sexual harassment. Ordinary citizens must live under all these laws.

A quick peak at Snopes debunks all of these claims of special exemption for Congress.

Snopes also glosses over the latest Congressional outrage -- exempting members of Congress from participation in the Healthcare Reform policies. Since few people have ever read all of the legislation and its recent amendments, how do they or we know what is really in the bill? If they are exempt or not, this nation does not need an elite group above the laws they themselves create for us.

No one in America is above the law.

There is a good and permanent way to stop this unforgivable arrogance. Long overdue, it is an idea whose time has finally come -- an amendment to the U.S. Constitution enforcing good old fashioned American common sense and our belief that no one is above the law. Whether the claims above are true now or ever were or weren't doesn't make this proposed amendment any less valuable. In fact, in my opinion, it is something that is absolutely necessary in the restoration of our nation.

Proposed Amendment to the Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States."

Seems so elementary it should be a given, a "duh" moment like, isn't it a law already?? No. It's up to you to spread the word about this common sense law. Contact everyone you know and ask that they do the same. Use the little envelope button below to send an email to the people on your contact list. [I've used it and it's very easy.]

Together, we can see that every citizen in the nation becomes aware of this proposal. We need to clean house. If eventually adopted by the states, this law will sweep out the condescending and grossly unfair elites who have falsely promised to look out for "ordinary" Americans while giving themselves special treatment and considerations. It's time to make all our representatives truly one of us again!

Thank you for sharing this. Together we will restore America to true fairness where no one is above the law and no one receives special treatment.
